Keturah awakened the next morning, excited to meet the upcoming day. She walked out to the kitchen to feed her dog. Looking over at the fireplace mantle, she saw the American flag that had been carefully folded into a triangle.
“Good morning, Daniel,” she said. “It was a good day, yesterday. Your daughter has grown into quite a capable and remarkable woman. She hopes to serve and help others like you did… She idolizes you! Actually, she plans to become a “flying cat” like her mom, but I think that is just because the U.S. Air Force doesn’t allow women to become “PJ’s” yet. I just hope that she’s truly finding her place and purpose and not just trying to honor your memory. I want her to feel the satisfaction of chasing and accomplishing her own dream, but I fear that she may face the pain of living in your shadow instead. You’ve left quite a legacy, my love. I just hope it doesn’t become her burden, as she tries to live up to it.”
Lost in her thoughts, she looked away, before returning her gaze to the flag.
